Caring ♡ actions
Kindness initiatives to bring love & light
Reminder: we are just people who care
These pages are more than aid stories; they're windows into our lives where you'll meet the people we humbly serve, fight for, and who inspire us every day. We're a grassroots movement, a family of heart-orientated individuals united by a simple goal: making a positive difference together through kindness, unity, and love, which is the foundation of all we do.
"No act of kindness, no matter how small, is ever wasted."
Caring
actions
Aleppo has faced its share of challenges – war, pandemic, sanctions, even earthquakes. But through it all, there's been a constant thread of hope. We started dozens of projects, big and small, to make a difference in people's lives.
Most of these activities revolved around bringing people together – kids and families especially. Music filled the air, laughter echoed from games, and movies transported us to different worlds. Even during the war's darkest days, we found ways to offer psychosocial support, organize visits, and create summer camps. It wasn't always easy, but seeing the smiles on people's faces made it all worth it. These projects were more than just activities; they were a beacon of hope, a reminder that even in the toughest times, the human spirit can endure.
Providing essential care
Times are tough. Even the most basic needs are out of reach for many. We come together as neighbors to offer a helping hand. Facilitating access to basic healthcare, medical supplies, and medication. Also, we collect what we can – winter supplies, blankets, warm clothes, and school supplies – and distribute them to families and children who are struggling. Our resources may be limited, and we can't reach everyone in need... but for those we can assist, it makes a difference, no matter how small. We listen to their needs and try to figure out how to make it happen. Everyone needs help, needs are so huge, but we believe every little bit counts. Even a small act of kindness can make a big difference in someone's life. With open hearts and helping hands, one family at a time.
A cinema
to keep dreaming
One of the first things we tried to do in war-torn Aleppo was bring back a sense of normalcy. It felt impossible with the constant bombings and fear, but starting this cinema program turned out to be one of the most positive and inspiring experiences of my life.
Suddenly, in the midst of all that chaos, we were offering a way to escape. It was incredible to see so many young people and families experience cinema for the first time. Their faces lit up – a whole new world opened for them, even if just for a few hours. The explosions were a constant soundtrack to our lives, rockets raining down all around. But even with that fear gripping us, we wouldn't give up. We knew the magic of movies could offer something more – a window to a world beyond the bombs.
Imagine a kid, eyes glued to the screen, seeing adventures unfold, heroes standing tall. Suddenly, the war shrinks a little. Their hearts open up, they travel to new lands without leaving their seats. They see courage, kindness, laughter – things that felt distant in the daily struggle. It was a breath of fresh air, a chance to dream again. These weren't just movies; they were lifelines. We weren't just showing films; we were showing hope. And it worked! Even complex lessons that might take months of classes to understand somehow clicked with a single movie. In a short time, over 4,500 people – kids, families, everyone – found a little escape, a reminder that life could be beautiful, even amidst the chaos.
Camps & outside activities
During the dark hours of the war, and even after the liberation, we did everything possible to create spaces of joy and carefreeness for young people. The objective was simple: to give them back a feeling of childhood that had been stolen by the conflict.
Stuck within the walls of their homes by daily bombings, the children knew only fear and confinement. Apart from the few hours spent at school, their days were devoid of outside activities, which were too dangerous. For us, seeing these children play together, laugh at the movies or go to camp was more than just fun. It was a precious symbol, a fragile victory snatched from the clutches of war. These moments of friendship and escape represented for these kids a lifeline in an ocean of chaos. It was a reminder that hope and joy could still exist despite everything happening around them.
Connecting children worldwide
Connecting children across the globe through drawings and live video exchanges. This initiative holds a special place in our hearts as it fosters connections between children from all corners of the world with those in Syria, free from any religious or political agenda.
For Syrian children, this project represents a beacon of hope. Cut off from the world by conflict, they will have the opportunity to feel close to other children, share their experiences, and discover new cultures.
For children around the world, it is a unique opportunity to express their solidarity and compassion towards their Syrian peers. They can learn from their stories, build friendships, and feel a sense of purpose by bringing a little light into their lives. This project is not just about exchanging drawings or videos. It is an invitation to meet, discover, and understand each other. It is a bridge being built between the children of the world, a bridge of hope and fraternity that defies borders and divisions.
Presence for those forgotten
A Humble and Human Commitment to the Elderly. Far from any pretense, our actions are rooted in a simple and sincere desire: to be there for those in need, especially the elderly who feel alone or isolated.
It is through encounters, conversations, and shared moments that we forge precious bonds, offering a little of our time, our listening ears, and our human warmth. Whether in their homes, during organized activities, or in hospitals, we strive to create spaces of support and companionship. Discussion groups, creative workshops, games, outings... all these initiatives aim to break the isolation, stimulate the mind and body, and above all, create moments of joy and sharing.
Attentive and benevolent listening is at the heart of our approach. We are there to listen to their stories, their concerns, their dreams, and their hopes. Simply being present, without judgment, and offering a space where everyone can express themselves freely.
Sometimes, a simple smile, an outstretched hand, or a silent presence can speak volumes. It is in these simple and authentic gestures that the essence of our commitment lies.
Street kids Education
Sell, not beg. A starting step for a better cohesion and future.
Many children in Aleppo find themselves on the streets, either selling small goods or begging. These children, often driven by poverty, family situations, or even exploitation, deserve a chance to break free from this cycle. Our program offers a positive alternative to begging or working on the streets. We identify these children and invite them to participate in regular workshops (2-3 times a month). These workshops are designed to empower them, foster learning, and provide them with a sense of belonging.
Bringing love
Words cannot fully capture the essence of our motivation. Our commitment stems from a deep and unconditional love for humanity. The journey is not always easy. Doubts, obstacles, and barriers arise along the way. But when we witness the positive impact we have on countless lives, we find the strength to persevere. Hope is our driving force.
Our reward lies in the smile of a child, the gratitude of a rescued family, the flicker of hope, love in the eyes of a despairing individual. It is the transformation of lives, one by one, that confirms the essentiality of our mission.
We seek neither recognition nor applause. Our sole satisfaction lies in knowing that we are making a difference, no matter how small.
It is with love and determination that we continue our journey, guided by the conviction that every gesture, every action, no matter how insignificant, can contribute to building a more just and compassionate world.
We mostly stay out of the spotlight. Photos aren't always an option, privacy and security matters too much. But sometimes we decide to catch a few of those moments, it is not pictures but glimpses into souls. They remind us why we keep going, even when we're feeling drained. We're sharing a few of these with you, hoping to bring a little light to your day and maybe even inspire you.
Love is not patronizing and charity isn't about pity, it is about love. Charity and love are the same -- with charity you give love, so don't just give money but reach out your hand & heart instead.
Raising voices for peace
Sharing experiences fosters empathy, education, and hope. It empowers people, builds trust, and sparks long-term change, creating a ripple effect of compassion. It is not just sharing a story, it is about rehumanizing our understanding of the « others » through their voices and lives, it is about building bridges and open windows between hearts, it is about empathy and compassion, humility and tolerance, inspiration and lessons. What if to help people, the first step was simply to listen to them?
Emotional 1st aid
Understanding the profound impact of injuries goes beyond treating physical wounds. Patients often grapple with fear, anxiety, and anger. We tried to create a safe space for people to express these emotions. Social workers, chaplains, and psychologists become vital resources throughout their healing journey. Also, providing follow-up care and connecting patients with rehabilitation and support groups. Empowering them and their families on the path to well-being is our ultimate goal. It's this holistic approach that truly makes a difference.
War 1st aid
We opened our doors in 2017 to give lost and hurt animals a safe place to heal. We don't just patch them up, though - sometimes, we provide loving care until their very end. It all started with helping injured strays, but we soon saw the need to do more.
