Emotional 1st aid
Being present and helping from heart to heart
Emotional 1st aid
Being present and helping from Heart to Heart
Reminder: we are just people who care
These pages are more than aid stories; they're windows into our lives where you'll meet the people we humbly serve, fight for, and who inspire us every day. We're a grassroots movement, a family of heart-orientated individuals united by a simple goal: making a positive difference together through kindness, unity, and love, which is the foundation of all we do.
"War paints stolen dreams on the canvas of a child's mind."
Emotional 1st aid
Train & support
Throughout times of war and over the years, we've developed various emotional support programs. These programs target children, adolescents, and adults in need.
Additionally, we offer training for local personnel on emotional intelligence, trauma recovery, and emergency management. In 2024, our focus remains on providing emotional and psychological first aid through training and direct care.
The power of love
We are not working as a NGO: we’re a grassroots movement, individuals united by a common goal: to spread kindness and love.
Yes, love. We believe that this is an essential approach, to help those who want to help themselves & others become more aware, honest, strong, gentle, judgment-free, understanding, etc. We believe in the power of love, compassion and human connection to change the world. From one human being to another, from one heart to another. It brings so much good, courage, hope, strength... It wasn't about grand gestures. It was about the quiet victories – a stolen laugh, a shared story, a hand held. We simply try to give the best of ourselves from the heart.
It is a heavy challenge
We focused especially on youth until now. During the war, things felt oddly simpler. It was a harsh reality - live or die. We focused on immediate trauma, on basic survival. Now, it's much more complex. Back then, children faced a clear and terrible threat - death. But with the fighting slowing and armed groups leaving the center, a new kind of suffering has emerged. These young people are condemned to live in a broken world, with no escape. Our work has changed. We spend a lot of time in class, but also hold open-support hours every week. The traumas of war run deep, masked by a facade of strength - a shield against rejection. But the war has impacted them far more than we can imagine. Our mission is to rebuild them from the inside out. To help them believe in a future even with the war hanging over them, to find faith in themselves and dare to dream again.
Caring actions
Aleppo has faced its share of challenges – war, pandemic, sanctions, even earthquakes. But through it all, there's been a constant thread of hope. We started dozens of projects, big and small, to make a difference in people's lives. Most of these activities revolved around bringing people together – kids and families especially. Music filled the air, laughter echoed from games, and movies transported us to different worlds. Even during the war's darkest days, we found ways to offer psychosocial support, organize visits, and create summer camps. It wasn't always easy, but seeing the smiles on people's faces made it all worth it. These projects were more than just activities; they were a beacon of hope, a reminder that even in the toughest times, the human spirit can endure.

From Heart-to-Heart
Over the years, Pierre Le Corf has created a humanistic approach to teaching and psychological support, readapted to the circumstances of war, natural disasters, sanctions and economic pressures to create networks of local therapists.
He has taken care of hundreds of young people, adults and volunteers. The approach itself is called “heart-to-heart”, that doesn't just offer psychological support, it empowers people. The difficulty is that psychology is very poorly represented in Syria, so we have tried to make it accessible and have trained a large number of people, volunteers and social workers. As for first aid, where it was a matter of sharing essential knowledge on the front lines for the most exposed people by creating networks of local first-aiders in difficult neighborhoods, the "heart-to-heart" training approach has the same objective. Local volunteers and social workers become beacons of hope. They understand the struggles because they're from the same community. Trained in "heart-to-heart" methods, they become therapists, just like learning first aid for the soul. To make mental health support as accessible as first aid, even in the toughest places. It’s not about treating hundreds; it’s about building a network of resilience, one caring heart at a time with the power of humanity, reminding us that even in the darkest times, hearts can heal hearts.
"From the ashes of war, we rebuild not what was lost, but what can be."
Support healing
Whenever possible, we spent time during hospitalization and post-discharge to support the people healing process.
Understanding the profound impact of injuries goes beyond treating physical wounds. Patients often grapple with fear, anxiety, and anger. We tried to create a safe space for people to express these emotions. Social workers, chaplains, and psychologists become vital resources throughout their healing journey. Also, providing follow-up care and connecting patients with rehabilitation and support groups. Empowering them and their families on the path to well-being is our ultimate goal. It's this holistic approach that truly makes a difference.
Teaching to love, to connect, to heal
Our animal rescue efforts blossomed alson into an emotional program for children. Recognizing that the concept of human-animal connection might differ in Syria compared to Europe, we prioritized fostering empathy and emotional expression through animal interaction. These activities provided a safe space for children to show tenderness, share their feelings, and ultimately be a piece of the many they need to heal. We are trying to explore a similar action for elderly people in 2024.

We mostly stay out of the spotlight. Photos aren't always an option, privacy and security matters too much. But sometimes we decide to catch a few of those moments, it is not pictures but glimpses into souls. They remind us why we keep going, even when we're feeling drained. We're sharing a few of these with you, hoping to bring a little light to your day and maybe even inspire you.
